I engaged Mr. White of Alston & Bird to assist with a complex trust administration issue that had escalated into a dispute among beneficiaries. His depth of experience, particularly his recognition as a 'Lawyer of the Year' in trusts and estates litigation, was immediately apparent. With over five decades of practice, his strategic understanding of Georgia probate law is unquestionable. He successfully navigated the core legal challenge, and the outcome was ultimately favorable. However, the process itself was sometimes frustrating. Given his stature and likely heavy caseload, responses to emails and calls were often delayed by several days, which added to our stress during an already tense family situation. While his junior associates were more accessible, we primarily sought his direct counsel. Furthermore, the billing structure, though standard for a firm of this caliber, felt quite rigid for what was, at times, a waiting game. Mr. White is undoubtedly a brilliant and highly decorated attorney—his Harvard Law pedigree and awards speak for themselves. For straightforward, high-stakes legal matters where his expertise is paramount, he is a solid choice. Just be prepared to manage expectations around communication timelines and to be proactive in following up if you need timely updates.
