Competent corporate counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Benjamin Strauss at McDermott Will & Schulte in Wilmington for assistance with the sale of my small manufacturing business. His recognition in Corporate Law by Best Lawyers was a primary factor in my selection, and his foundational knowledge of the transactional process was evident. He capably handled the due diligence review and the initial asset purchase agreement draft. However, the experience felt somewhat uneven. While his analysis of the indemnification clauses was thorough, there were periods of several days where I received no updates, requiring me to follow up. For a process as significant as this, I expected more proactive communication. His billing was fair and he was always polite, but the overall responsiveness didn't quite match the level of expertise suggested by his professional recognition. He successfully guided the deal to close, but the journey felt more reactive than collaborative. He is clearly a knowledgeable attorney, but managing client expectations and communication cadence seems to be an area for refinement.
