Competent defense work, but communication could improve

Benjamin Hartwell handled a product liability case for my company where we were named as a defendant. His technical knowledge of the relevant standards and his background in this specific area of litigation were evident and reassuring, especially given his recognition by Best Lawyers. The legal strategy he developed was sound and ultimately led to a favorable settlement. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. There were periods where updates were sparse, and we often had to follow up for basic status reports. While his legal work was proficient, the client service aspect—particularly responsiveness and proactive communication—felt just adequate. He is clearly a skilled attorney in defense-side personal injury and product liability, but managing client expectations more consistently would elevate the service.
