Competent but communication could be more consistent

I engaged Austin Rainwater at Holland & Knight for a complex contract dispute with a former business partner. His background in commercial litigation and the recognition from Best Lawyers were certainly factors in my decision. Austin demonstrated a solid grasp of the legal issues at play, and his analysis of our contractual obligations was thorough. The strategy he developed was sound and ultimately helped us reach a settlement. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While his legal work was competent, there were periods where communication lagged. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and it wasn't always clear who was handling follow-up tasks within his team. For straightforward commercial matters, his expertise is evident, but managing client expectations on process and timelines could be improved. He is clearly knowledgeable, but the overall service felt more transactional than collaborative.
