I engaged Tony Pellegrini to assist with a multifaceted legal situation involving my small tech startup. We needed to secure a provisional patent for a new software module and simultaneously begin the trademark registration process for our brand. Tony's background in intellectual property law was evident; he was knowledgeable about the USPTO procedures and provided clear, actionable advice on protecting our IP. His general practice experience was also helpful as we drafted basic corporate documents as part of our estate planning for the business. The work product we received was thorough and legally sound. However, the experience was marked by significant delays in communication. Responses to emails often took several business days, and there was little proactive updating on the status of our filings, which created some anxiety. While his rates are reasonable for the Chicago area, the value felt diminished by the need to frequently follow up. For straightforward legal tasks where timing isn't critical, I would recommend him based on his competence in patents and trademarks. For matters requiring more client engagement or faster turnarounds, you might want to set very clear expectations upfront regarding communication protocols.
