Competent on employment matter, but communication could improve

I hired Anjali Kumar at Littler to advise my small business on a sensitive employee termination issue. Her background in Labor and Employment Law - Management was evident, and her recognition by Best Lawyers in that specific area gave me confidence. She provided sound, practical legal advice on navigating the separation agreement and potential risks, which was exactly what I needed from a legal standpoint. The work product itself was thorough. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While Anjali was knowledgeable, there were several instances where responses to my emails took longer than I expected, sometimes stretching to three or four business days. This created some anxiety during a time-sensitive process. Furthermore, while she explained the legal concepts clearly, I sometimes felt the strategic business implications of our options weren't discussed as proactively as I would have liked. For straightforward legal analysis, she is certainly capable, especially given her Hamline University J.D. foundation and the firm's resources. But for a client who values frequent touchpoints and a more collaborative, hand-holding approach, the experience felt somewhat transactional. She resolved my immediate issue competently, but the overall client service aspect felt just adequate.
