A solid corporate attorney, but communication could be more consistent

I engaged Amanda Leech at Akerman LLP to advise on the acquisition of a smaller competitor for my Atlanta-based tech company. With her 19 years of experience and recognition in Mergers and Acquisitions Law, I was confident in her technical expertise. Her knowledge of the due diligence process and structuring the transaction was thorough, and she clearly leveraged her background in private equity law to anticipate potential hurdles. The final deal documents were impeccable. However, the experience was somewhat mixed on the service side. While Amanda herself was sharp, there were periods where communication lagged, with responses taking several days during critical negotiation phases. This sometimes left me feeling out of the loop. Her associate often stepped in, which was helpful, but I expected more direct and timely updates from the lead attorney on a matter of this scale. For straightforward corporate legal work, she is undoubtedly competent and her Emory Law pedigree shows. For clients who prioritize constant, proactive communication, setting clear expectations upfront would be advisable.
