Competent and knowledgeable, but communication was inconsistent

I hired Alfredo Montelongo to handle a commercial dispute for my small manufacturing company. The issue involved a breach of contract and defective materials supplied by a vendor, which had some construction-related elements given our facility's expansion. Alfredo's background from a leading construction litigation firm and his recognition in commercial and construction litigation were evident. He clearly understood the technical complexities of the case. His analysis of our contractual obligations was sharp, and he developed a sound legal strategy. Ultimately, we reached a settlement that protected our interests. However, the experience was not seamless. There were periods where communication lagged significantly; responses to emails could take several days, and updates were sometimes sparse unless I initiated contact. While his substantive work was solid, managing expectations and maintaining a consistent dialogue felt like areas that could be improved. For straightforward matters requiring deep expertise, he is capable, but be prepared to follow up proactively to stay in the loop.
