Competent in construction law, but communication could improve

I hired Mr. Trueblood at Yosha Law to handle a dispute with a contractor over significant foundation issues on a commercial property I own in Indianapolis. His background in construction law and litigation, including the recognition from Best Lawyers, was a primary reason for my choice. He was clearly knowledgeable about Indiana construction statutes and the technical aspects of the case. The legal strategy he developed was sound, and we ultimately reached a settlement that covered most of the repair costs. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were periods of several days where I wouldn't receive updates unless I initiated contact, and at times, explanations of procedural steps were more cursory than I would have liked for such a complex matter. For straightforward legal expertise in construction or environmental matters, he is certainly capable, especially given his 11 years of experience since graduating from IU McKinney. My expectations for a more proactive and communicative partnership, however, were not fully met. The outcome was professionally achieved, but the process itself felt just adequate.
